As the approaching release date for advanced review copies of Guardian Spirit draws near, (hopefully in only a few days) the excitement is peaking at my household and also I feel the anticipation from friends and family. I still can?t believe I will be holding a real book that I, Sarah Martin Byrd wrote! A lifelong dream is becoming reality!
More than once I?ve been asked the question, ?How in the world did you write a book??
And every time I say, ? Lord if I know?? just sat down and wrote what was on my mind.?
The love of words has always been in me. The need? and desire to write down my thoughts and feelings is sometimes all consuming. From the early years of writing in my diary, to penning poems and short stories, to creating three novels, writing has been the easy part. The hardest has been finding the time to do it.
From my beginning I was taught to work, to make my own money for clothes and non-essentials. Then as a partner in marriage I felt the need to bear my share of the financial burdens. All the while, through several decades of bringing home a paycheck I didn?t really think I?d ever get to do what I really loved.
You know the old saying, ? good things sometimes come out of bad happenings? (that may be a Sarah saying, and not an old saying) anyway, when the company I?d worked with for twenty years was sold, I took a leap of faith and retired; throwing myself into writing, editing, and trying to find a publisher. Who would have thought only three short years later I?d be a published author!
There is so much more I want to share with you. Stay tuned and I?ll break out one of my many tubs of ramblings and share more of my stories. Hopefully you?ll be inspired to take that leap of faith too.
